There have been new police checkpoints set up for the September Celebrations. They aren't much to worry about - if you have papers. Piedad, Max's normal nanny, is from Guatemala and has been having troubles getting her passport. She has been lucky that they have not pulled her off the bus at the new checkpoint between BMP and her village. She decided to stop chancing it though and this week went to Guatemala to, hopefully, get her passport taken care of. That means another interim nanny for Max. This week, Yolanda watched Max and he LOVED her. She played outside most of the day with him and gave him jocote (plums) from the front tree.

The three of us went to the Independence Day Parade - finally one that was worth going to. It was a fantastic parade even if it started a bit late and mommy didn't pack a snack, drink, cell phone, money, or sun screen. Oops.
Belize Defense Force

Who does that? Who walks in a parade standing on top of a horse?

GMRS. These are the guys that originally got Uncle Tom to BZ all those years ago.

I hope to God that these guns weren't loaded but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

Yep. That is an actual oil rig on the truck bed. Lots of oil in BZ.

This is our friend Dave driving the truck.
This is our little man Max driving the car. JK.
